Recessionista

There are many websites, blogs and articles in newspapers all over the country claiming to know where the good deals in town are located. One such blog I came upon yesterday in The City Paper. It was called "Frugalista" and claimed to be a blog with local deals around Charleston. Now, maybe because I'm unemployed at the moment, or that I grew up middle class, or that I've never really had disposable income (minus the 2 years after college where I thought a credit card was FREE MONEY), I don't think a $50 hoodie is a so called "steal". In what world does someone think a cotton zip up fleece for 50 bones is a bargain? So I've come to realize that these articles are targeted toward rich people that are still rich, but maybe their stocks are in decline. Because they sure aren't for the post college majority living on student loans, MUSC studies and bread crumbs. So here's some sites/stores for those who think a good value is a $4 skirt from Target. (me)

* Right now Target is having 75% off sales in store. Even more online. Go to Target.com and click on women's or men's, then 75% off. Shirts, Dresses, Skirts, Bathing suits, all for less than a McDonald's value meal.

* Hit up Alloy.com and click clearance...shirts, skirts for $4.99

* Makeup freak? ELF.com has makeup for $1---literally, it's all about the Washingtons.

* Try Forever21 for their Fabulous Finds or Daily Specials. A summer dress for $13!?! Black platform pumps for $14!!! And jewelery starts at $1.99

* The $15 Dollar Store is exactly what it sounds like.

*Of course you've heard of Woot; if you are a technology junkie.

* The ever so faithful Ebay for any need you may need to fulfill.

*Amazon has dvds, cds, books, electronics for about 1/2 the retail price in stores.

* Don't forget your neighborhood thrift & consignment shops!

* Craigslist--good for old washing machines and/ or wives.

* The neighborhood $1 store. I buy almost everything for the apt there. Hand towels, holiday decorations, soap, cleaning supplies, crossword puzzles, pens, thank you cards, chips, dip, candy, socks, gloves, cotton balls, nail file, fingernail polish, chapstick, can opener, spatula, paper towels, candles, birthday balloons, wippets (jk). For serious, they have it all.

Count on me for being cheap and knowing where the deals are. Because it's not on sale unless its covered in 16 orange stickers.

I'm loving that 75% off at Target. I got a new wool coat for $17, two new shirts for $3.74 and $4.24, and a new cami for $2.74.

WOOTTT!!!
